about

'Anticipations_1' is a meditation on what is coming. The work uses a 12-tone subset of a 'musical gamut' of 17 intervals arranged by Robert Martin: 1/1 28/27 9/8 5/4 21/6 45/32 3/2 14/9 27/16 7/4 15/8 2/1. The sound of the work is what happens when one takes a piano model of an Erard Piano, a physical modeling preset available in PianoTeq, tuned to the scale above, and feeds that instrument's sound into Tom Erbe's Soundhack Spiral Stretch, and Soundhack Pitchshift software. In short, voices, brass, strings, percussion, and other. Both tracks were improvised on the evening of 11/02/2011. The tuning in cents notation is: 0, 63, 204, 386, 471, 590, 702, 765, 906, 969, 1088, 1200. There are 1200 cents per one octave. The work was remastered on 11/11/11.
